Our Story
Our Story
Lil' Sprouts Daycare was formed in 2004 in response to a need for a quality home daycare to focus on play and the development of social skills. Since then, we have expanded to Lil' Peas & Sprouts Learning Center and over the years we have developed a reputation for providing superior care in a safe, stimulating environment where children between six weeks to school age are encouraged to freely express themselves.

About the Owners:
Alicia Ruby and Daniel Mendoza have been married for 30 years and are proud parents of three children. They are long-time members of the community, and their children have attended schools in the Northside Independent School District (NISD). Their daughter recently graduated from Abilene Christian University with a Bachelor of Science in Business and Communication. Their son is a Master Barber, and their youngest child currently attends school in NISD.
Alicia R. Mendoza – Owner/Director
Alicia R. Mendoza holds a Child Development Associate Degree and attended Southwest Junior College. She is a licensed Child Care Director through the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, bringing over 19 years of experience in early childhood education.
Her professional background includes four years as an ALE Aide with SFDRCISD, five years as a substitute teacher (K–5th grade) with SFDRCISD, and five years of experience in emergency room intake and primary care with Christus Santa Rosa and Val Verde Regional Medical Center.

Current Role:
Owner and Office Administrator of a licensed early childhood education program, where she combines her administrative expertise with a passion for nurturing and educating young children.
Daniel M. Mendoza – Owner/Office Administrator

Daniel M. Mendoza holds a Master of Education degree in School Administration (Principal, EC–12) and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Science from Sul Ross State University, with certification in Secondary Social Studies Composite (Grades 6–12). He brings 24 years of experience in the field of education.
His career includes 10 years as a teacher and coach at Del Rio High School and Lanier High School, followed by 19 years as a high school administrator. Throughout his career, Mr. Mendoza has demonstrated strong leadership, a commitment to student achievement, and effective organizational management.
Current Role:
As Owner and Office Administrator, Mr. Mendoza applies his extensive educational leadership experience to support operations, ensure compliance, and foster a safe, nurturing learning environment.
